Herdade do Rocim – Amphora Branco 2021
Golden colour. Fresh, smoky, spicy and vegetal aroma from the skin contact. Tomato plant and grapefruit notes. Firm, dry and textural palate. Some salinity and a long and mineral finish. With two thousand years of tradition in the Alentejo, the wine made in these large wine pots is still produced following the process of the Roman villae. With this wine, the Herdade do Rocim pays tribute to the ancient tradition of vine growing and wine.

DIE LAGE
CLIMATE › Typically medterranean and set in the sub-region of Vidigueira, where the climatic conditions are the most temperate of Alentejo and provide an excellent microclimate for the production of quality wines. SOIL › Poor land, predominantly of granite and schist. Great pedological potential for the cultivation of vines and for obtaining excellent wines.
VINIFIKATION
Vinification was done in the traditional way, in clay pots, and with no temperature control. The ancestral way to make such wine was fully respected. Fermentation took place using indigenous yeasts and with no addition or correction of must. AGING › The wine aged for three months in bottle. Due to the fact that this wine was not stabilised before bottling, so as not to affect its potential evolution, a slight natural deposit make appear.
DAS WEINGUT
Herdade do Rocim – Dieses familiär gefu¨hrte Weingut wurde im Jahre 2000 mit hohem technischen Aufwand gegru¨ndet. Die Weinberge erstrecken sich über 70 ha zwischen den beiden Dörfern Vidigueira und Cuba im Alentejo-Gebiet in Südportugal auf einer Höhe von 50 – 200 m. Das Önologen-Team Catarina Vieira und Pedro Ribeiro zeichnen verantwortlich fu¨r dieses ehrgeizige Projekt. Dazu gehören neben den erstklassigen Alentejo-Weinen auch ein feiner Vinho Verde und – als jüngster Zugang – ein Weinprojekt im Douro-Tal.
DIE REGION
Die Region Alentejo ist die Kornkammer Portugals und nimmt etwa ein Drittel des Landes ein. In der sanft gewellten Landschaft im Su¨den des Landes finden neben Getreidefeldern und Olivenhainen auch unzählige Korkeichen und Weingärten Platz. Im heißen Klima, auf fruchtbarem Boden und bequem zu bearbeiteten Rebanlagen entstehen saftige Rotweine die nicht nur in den Cafés von Lissabon offen ausgeschenkt werden. Dank des sehr guten Preis- und Genussverhältnisses finden die Weine aus dem Alentejo auch in Deutschland immer mehr Liebhaber. Vor allem die Rotweine sind beliebt. Bereitet werden diese aus den Rebsorten Tempranillo, die hier Aragonês genannt wird, Trincadeira Preta, Periquita und Touriga Nacional. Aber auch Cabernet Sauvignon und Syrah finden hier ideale Bedingungen. Die kräftigen Rotweine sind zumeist Cuvées. Mit den fantastischen Weinen aus der portugiesischen Flaggschiffsorte Touriga Nacional macht man sich zunehmend einen Namen. (DMI)
